20 Personal Life Lessons

I have traveled near and far. I have seen some of the world. I have met people from all walks of life. I have dined with loyalty; I have dined with the less fortunate. I have been the student, and I have been the teacher. I have had it all, and I have lost it all.

Nevertheless, I have learned the following universal lessons:

1. We are all chasing the same things in life. The ones in the north want the same things as the ones in the east, west and south.
2. We may speak different languages, but our wants and desires are remarkably similar.
3. We may believe in different religions, but our definitions of God are similar, especially in our moments of weakness. The majority relies on the middleman.
4. Even those who don’t believe, they believe in something.
5. We are all self-centered or ethnocentric or whatever you wish to call it. We are tribal being, it is embedded in our genetic code.
6. We are all insecure in our own unique ways.
7. We are all going through struggles. Some are going through personal struggles. Others are struggling because of harsh circumstances. However, we are all struggling.
8. There is poverty in every corner of the world.
9. There is ugliness in every corner of the world
10. There is beauty in everything.
11. History books are biased
12. History books are erroneous
13. Traditional media, in every country, serves what is believed to be the best interest of that country
14. Social media or new media is now following in its footsteps.
15. Even the most educated can be ignorant.
16. A smile can do so much good.
17. Love is the universal language, and it is the universal goal
18. We are all prisoners within the borders of our nations, which are also high walls that are preventing us from sympathizing or empathizing with our neighbors.
19. We are capable of change
20. We are innately good.
